Minamo— the surface of water reflected on a basin. Wave patterns carefully carved with skilled craftsmanship create a gentle impression expressive of the calm motion of the surface of water. This sensitivity of design attuned to modern lifestyles is created through collaboration between sculptor Kyukei Goto and Yumi Terauchi.
水盤に映し出される水面（ミナモ）。研ぎすまされた彫刻刀で丹念に心を込めて彫り上げた彫刻が、静かな水の動きを表現しているかのように、やさしい表情を醸し出します。現代のライフスタイルにも活きる新しい感性が、後藤久慶と寺内ユミのコラボレーションで創り上げられました。見た目の重厚な印象と違い、十分に枯らした木材は非常に軽く、手触りもしっとりとして、非常に使い勝手の良い逸品となっております。また、国産極上漆のしっとりとした美しさは他では例を見ないものです。良質な漆器は、使えば使う程、深みのある色艶が浮き上がってまいります。
KAMAKURA-BORI
The characteristics of MINAMO plates originated in the Kamakura Era by sculptors of Buddha statues and carpenters of shrines who started carving Buddhist ritual articles and implements with layers of Japanese urushi lacquer coating influenced by carved and lacquer coated crafts introduced from the Sung and Yuan dynasties in China. Carefully selected Katsura wood (Japanese Judas tree) from Hokkaido Prefecture is used as the natural base material. The finest quality of domestically produced urushi lacquer, which is distributed to only 1 percent of the entire market, is used.
鎌倉彫
鎌倉彫は、鎌倉時代に中国の宋から伝来した漆を塗り重ねて彫刻する彫漆工芸の影響を受け、仏師が寺院の仏具や調度品を彫刻し漆を塗り重ねたことから始まります。昔から現代までほとんど変わらない技術と材料で作られている鎌倉彫は、木地に手彫りした刀痕の様々な表情、塗り重ねられた漆の光沢の美しさと丈夫さを持ち合わせています。ご紹介している器に使われている漆は国内流通1％の極上国産漆。他国の漆と違い、しっとりとした風合いがあり、使うほど深みのある色艶が浮き上がってきます。
